Transimex inaugurates phase 1 of a 1,000 billion VND cold storage project in Long An

 

With a floor area of 29,000 m2, Long An cold storage becomes a key project in the endeavor to strengthen logistics activities in the Mekong Delta region.

On the morning of September 29, 2023, at Vĩnh Lộc 2 Industrial Park in Bến Lức district, Long An province, two subsidiaries of Transimex Joint Stock Company - Long An Investment Company Limited and Long An Logistics Joint Stock Company held the inauguration ceremony of phase 1 of the Long An Cold Storage project.

The project’s total amount of invested capital lies at around 1,000 billion VND. With this fairly large investment, Long An Logistics owns a cold storage facility with the largest and most modern storage capacity in Vietnam today.

Representatives of local authorities and leaders of Transimex Joint Stock Company, Long An Investment Company Limited and Long An Logistics Joint Stock Company cut the ribbon to inaugurate phase 1 of the Long An cold storage project.

Long An cold storage has a total area of ​​29,000 square meters, a storage capacity of 56,000 pallets, including 1 automatic freezer warehouse and 2 freezer warehouses with a temperature range of minus 18 degrees Celsius to minus 22 degrees Celsius; 2 cool warehouses ranging 2 degrees Celsius to 6 degrees Celsius; and 3 room temperature warehouses. This warehousing system, accompanied with a deep freezing area, a goods preparation area, 46 dock doors, and a large yard capacity for trucks and tractors to enter and exit while transporting goods, is well-equipped for handling all types of goods requiring temperature-specific preservation.

In addition, Long An cold storage meets HACCP, GSP, and WHO-GMP standards: it employsWMS and WCS warehouse management software from System Logistics and Infor, equipped with multi-application functions allowing fast, accurate retrieval in real time. In this way, Long An cold storage can ensure that it consistently meets the ever increasing demands of customers.

Besides the advantage of its strategic location, Long An Cold Storage also invests in the most modern industrial equipment, operated by an automation system (ASRS). The goods import and export system has an outstanding retrieval speed of up to 200 pallets/1 hour, fixed shelf systems, automatic conveyor belts, forklifts, compressors, modern and high-quality refrigeration units, imported from Europe and G7 countries. Long An cold storage is also powered by a rooftop solar power system, a measure included under the policy of implementing "Green Logistics" set by the Transimex Group to contribute to environmental protection.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nguyễn Hoàng Hải, the Deputy General Director of Transimex Joint Stock Company and the Director of Long An Logistics Joint Stock Company, said that Long An has a very important strategic position, as the geographic the gateway to The Mekong Delta region; this confers important strengths in the way of agricultural economic development and industrial park/economic zone development, attracting FDI investment. In addition, Long An is also developing and refining its transportation infrastructure, with the Ring Road 3 project passing through Ho Chi Minh City, which acts as a very important connection point in service of imports and exports, as well as general goods circulation throughout Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Lê Trường Chinh, Head of Long An Economic Zone Board of Management, highly commended Transimex for using modern technology to ensure high storage capacity, effectiveness of preservation, and environmental protection.

The project contributes to the goal of socio-economic development, while helping to create jobs for people in Long An and the Mekong Delta in general, Mr. Chinh said.

It is expected that by 2030, Long An province will have 51 industrial parks. Currently, there are 34 industrial parks in operation. Since the beginning of the year, the province has had 82 new FDI enterprises. Therefore, the need for cold storage is rapidly increasing.

Long An is focusing on developing the transportation network, including the formation of intersections connecting the national-level traffic infrastructure system with the provincial-level infrastructure system, in order to enhance connectivity for interregional traffic.

The province also focuses on upgrading and renovating 5 waterway transport routes and building new and/or upgrading and renovating 18 cargo ports, and 17 specialized ports including petroleum ports and ports serving the operation of a number of factories and industrial areas.

In addition, Long An is also planning the construction of two dry ports: Bến Lức dry port (Bến Lức district) and Tân Lập dry port (Thủ Thừa district). Each port has an area of ​​10 - 15 hectares, with a throughput capacity of 150,000 TEU/year.

With about 1,000 billion VND in invested capital, Long An cold storage has the largest and most modern storage capacity and operational output in Vietnam today.
