Transimex participates in the seminar "Enhancing connectivity to improve the value chain of agricultural and fishery products of the Mekong Delta"

 

On April 23, 2019, Transimex Corporation attended the seminar "Enhancing connectivity to improve the value chain of agricultural and fishery products of the Mekong Delta".

The seminar was held at Vinpearl Hotel, 209 30/4 Street, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, organized by the People's Committee of Can Tho City in collaboration with Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA). function.

Mekong River Delta has more than 15 types of fruits with an area of about 10 thousand hectares/type which now accounts for more than 86% of the total area. The Mekong Delta is the main fruit tree region, accounting for 50% of the total area and 60% of the country's fruit production (VINAFRUIT). Total fishery output in 2018, both farming and fishing, was 7.74 million tons and export value reached 8.9 billion USD, of which mainly was from the Mekong Delta, accounting for 4-5% of GDP (according to VASEP). However, processing and transporting logistics is still difficult and costs are still high.

The purpose of the seminar was to create a forum to exchange and discuss with experts, businesses and state management agencies on existing problems and to propose effective solutions and transport and logistics models to cut logistics costs towards attracting foreign investment and promoting import and export of agricultural and fishery products in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta region.

The seminar was attended by nearly 200 representatives of relevant central and local state management agencies, industry associations, such as Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT), Association of Processing and Exporting. Vietnam Seafood Exporters (VASEP), agricultural and seafood producers and traders, transportation and logistics companies, investors in the above sectors, universities and domestic and international research organizations.

The seminar is an opportunity to link the regional manufacturing, import-export business community with logistics service providers and domestic and international supply chain management.

After the seminar, solutions to promote exports of seafood and fruits and frozen chain logistics, post-harvest logistics, agricultural logistics of Can Tho and the Mekong Delta will be recommended to the Government and Relevant ministries and branches.
